Most installations can be made straight along pipe. Spiral installation can be made if cable is a little long. *NEVER OVERLAP PIPE CABLE OR ALLOW IT TO HANG LOOSE.
Cable should be strapped to pipe at 6" intervals with Scotch #44 or #33 tape or equivalent. Use of ½" fiberglass or equivalent pipe insulation with vapor seal is recommended.
PLASTIC PIPE - Only use on plastic pipe rated for hot water (150°F) Never spiral heating cable on plastic pipe. For even heat distribution, wrap plastic pipe with aluminum foil before applying cable. |
